Founded in 1791, the Albany Institute of History & Art is New York's oldest museum. The site includes three different structures: a 1920s Classical Revival building, a Beaux-Arts mansion, and a modern glass building which connects the two older structures. The Institute is home to more than 35,000 objects which document the history of the Hudson Valley and its importance as a crossroads of culture. Its collections include paintings, sculpture, works on paper, ceramics, furniture, and other historical artifacts. Permanent exhibitions include one of the largest collections of Hudson River School paintings; a history of Ancient Egypt—and Albany's connection to it; and other fine art, ceramics, and furniture; along with temporary exhibitions, which change three times a year. There is a museum shop on the premises. The Albany Institute's galleries and public spaces are fully wheelchair accessible. Large-print exhibition guides are available at the admissions desk.

Founded by the first president of the Beech-Nut Packing Company, the museum is dedicated to the art and history of the Mohawk Valley. Their collection of American art includes works by Gilbert Stuart, Winslow Homer, John Singer Sargent, Albert Bierstadt, George Inness, William M. Chase, Thomas Benton, Childe Hassam, Mary Cassatt, Georgia O'Keeffe, Andrew Wyeth, Maurice Prendergast, and Robert Henri. The Mohawk Valley collection includes photographs, diaries, letters, and portraits of individuals and businesses of both local and national importance. The Beech-Nut Packing Company Collection includes photographs of early factory life, company scrapbooks, and marketing materials. There is a museum shop on the premises. The Museum is wheelchair-accessible, and there is parking available both in our paved parking lot and along Erie Boulevard and Church Street.

With a collection started in the 19th century, the Bennington Museum has made its home in a former Catholic church since 1923. This long-standing collection focuses on the history and culture of Vermont and the surrounding regions. Historical exhibits include 18th century furniture and decorative arts, one of the most historically significant quilts from 1863, as well as a letter written by George Washington. Traveling exhibits and rotations from the permanent collection make up the art galleries, which range from historical portraits from America's early years to more modern fare, including works by Helen Frankenthaler and Paul Feeley. The museum also holds the largest collection of works by 20th-century folk artist Grandma Moses. The Regional History Room (with limited hours), features a wealth of documents related to New England families and their genealogy. Also on the museum grounds is the George Aiken Wildflower Trail, a path showcasing many of the native plant species of the region. The museum is wheelchair accessible, and ASL or verbal description tours are available upon request. There is a museum store on site. Check the website for their hours, as sometimes there is a gallery reinstallation in progress.

Founded in 1950, the museum was established for Sterling and Francine Clark to share their large art collection with the public. Since then, this significant collection has continued to grow so that it now includes paintings, drawings, prints, sculpture, photographs, and decorative arts from the 14th to the early 20th century, primarily from the United States and Europe. In addition to permanent and changing exhibitions inside the galleries, works are also displayed across its 140-acres of lawns, meadows, and walking trails. There is a café and a gift shop on the premises. All buildings and public areas are fully accessible and comply with American with Disabilities (ADA) standards, including fully accessible restrooms. Wheelchairs are available to guests on a first-come, first-served basis.

The Hyde Collection is an historic house and museum complex with a collection of European and American art that spans centuries. Housed in an Italian Renaissance-style villa built in 1912, the permanent collection consists of more than 5,000 objects, comprised of paintings, works on paper, sculpture, and decorative arts, as well as furniture and textiles. Highlights include Old Master works (Botticelli, El Greco, Rembrandt, Rubens, and Tiepolo) and works by important American artists (Eakins, Hassam, Homer, Ryder, Whistler, Albers, Gottlieb, Hartigan, Kelly, LeWitt, Motherwell, and Rauschenberg). Five galleries present changing exhibitions which include both works drawn from the collection and art from outside the institution. There is a museum shop on the premises. The entire complex is accessible by wheelchair with two exceptions: the guest bedroom downstairs and Mrs. Hyde's bedroom upstairs in the house.

The Iroquois Museum is dedicated to sharing the history, culture, and art of the Haudenosaunee people. The design of the modern building that houses the museum was informed by the traditional Iroquois elm bark longhouses found in the area 400 years ago. Exhibitions include art made by Iroquois artists, and presentations of archeology and history. On the grounds is a 45-acre nature park with a number of trails for walking, as well as two 19th century log homes moved from the Six Nations Reserve, Ontario, rebuilt by a Mohawk construction company.

MASS MoCA occupies a complex of 19th-century mill buildings on a 16-acre site in downtown North Adams, MA. Opened to the public in 1999, the museum exhibits art by both well-known and emerging artists, focusing on large-scale, immersive installations that would be impossible to realize in conventional museums. Exhibitions take place in both inside galleries and on the grounds. Among others, permanent exhibits include important works by Sol LeWitt, Joseph Beuys, and Anselm Kiefer. A museum shop and a number of eating and drinking opportunities are on the premises.

Olana is the former home, studio, and grounds of 19th century Hudson River School artist Frederic Edwin Church. The unique main building is an eclectic mixture of styles, featuring stencil work on both the exterior and interior based on Church's travels in the Middle East and elsewhere. The interior of the house is much as it was when the artist was alive and includes a number of paintings by Church, his mentor Thomas Cole, and other artists within his circle. The 250-acre grounds represent a landscape designed by Church, through which visitors may walk on the many trails available. There is a Visitor Center and gift shop on the premises. The Frederic Church Center for Art and Landscape has a café. The nearby Hudson River Skywalk, a pedestrian walkway across the Rip Van Winkle Bridge, connects the site with the Thomas Cole National Historic Site.

This National Historic Landmark and National Historic Site is home to the historic house and studios of painter Thomas Cole (1801-1848), founder of the Hudson River School of American landscape. Visitors may visit the historic buildings, explore the grounds, and view exhibitions. The nearby Hudson River Skywalk, a pedestrian walkway across the Rip Van Winkle Bridge, connects the site with Olana, the home of Frederick Church, another important Hudson River School painter. There is a gift shop on the premises. The 1839 Storehouse Studio, the 1846 New Studio, and Cole Center, the Visitor's Center, are all wheelchair-accessible, as well as the first floor of the Main House via a wheelchair lift.
